Gabriel Piser supports the center's work by developing and expanding large-scale community initiatives and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders. Gabriel has more than 15 years of experience working with rural communities as a researcher, educator, and consultant. Before joining the center, Gabriel ran an educational consulting firm, Big Sky Education and Strategy. His past projects include: designing and delivering youth, community, and professional development programming for K-12 school districts in northeast Ohio; developing regional food systems asset maps with college students in southern Vermont; conducting campus-wide program evaluations with the Ohio State University’s Kirwan Institute; and managing national research and planning projects related to toxic exposure and the criminal justice system.
Gabriel holds a Ph.D. in comparative studies from the Ohio State University, an MA in philosophy from Binghamton University, and a BA in sociology from Earlham College.
